Discover the history of the region

As you enter, you will be welcomed by an iguanodon and a megalosaur, these dinosaurs have lived in our region. The museum route presents the basic knowledge of fossils and fossilisation, rocks and minerals. Splendid fossils, along with life-size reconstruction and scientific videos, tell the history of the region 300 million years ago, to the Carboniferous era.

The first gallery illustrates important steps of life on Earth and concepts of the evolution of plants, ammonites and mankind. You can discover, as an example, the first vertebrate that ever came out of the water. The second gallery retraces 600 million years of regional geological history in five themes, based on different eras (Devonian, Jurassic, Cretaceous, Eocene, Quaternary).

Numerous mock-ups and models illustrate and help the understanding of these subjects and scientific names which can be complex sometimes.
